I had great fun this week making some simple but special cushions. They were to match a stunning Nina Campbell wool fabric we had made into a throw. The plain wool fabric was from a Kirkby house range and I used 80s thickness threads in colours taken from the throw fabric to embellish the plain wool. I simply drew some lines on the cushion using a fading marker then used a zig zag stitch with a length of 0.3mm on my trusty old Janome sewing machine, adjusting the width as I went along. If the fabric is floppy it is best to use an iron on backing to stabilise it before you start the embroidery.
With cushions like this it works best I feel, to just seam the edges rather than adding piping.
Looking through a very old copy of Homes and Gardens there was an article about a Cushion Template which could be purchased via Maureen Whitemoore. I know it is a very long chance but would you happen to still sell this item.
Many thanks
